Station Eleven

By Emily St. John Mandel

Alfred A. Knopf/ Random House

Interviewed by Lincoln Michel

This is an interview by Lincoln Michel, of the National Book Foundation. One of the more interesting parts of the interview is Mandel discussing the time she spent on survivalist message boards to find her research, and how she would not recommend this activity.
The interview then discusses the sudden influx of post-apocalyptic novels and asks if this is a movement. Mandel comments on how at the time she started writing "Station Eleven" there was not very many novels in this genre, but by the time she had completed her novel, there had been many more published and that she feared she would not be able to get the novel published.
